City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on March 8, 2010 at 7:00 PM at City Hall.  Present:  Mayor Brad Prins; Council members:  Curt Johnson, Roberta Duroe, Shawna Dorr-Jones, Curt Determan; Lance Holmen, Maintenance; Sharen Goeman, Clerk.  

Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Minutes of the February 22, 2010 meeting were approved as read.

Visitors:  Craig Mueller, Dennis Nelson - Wenck Associates Inc.
                 Todd Hagen - Ehlers

Craig Mueller presented plans and specs for 2010 City of Jeffers Sanitary Lagoon Improvements / Water Tower Painting and a draft of 2010 Street & Utility Improvements.

Craig stated that there are two options for the Street and Utility Improvements:  bituminous and concrete options for CSAH 4.  The projects would take approximately 75 work days from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or approximately 15 weeks.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to approve the 2010 City of Jeffers Sanitary Lagoon Improvements/Water Tower Painting.

Wenck will make a call for bids and advertising for bid opening on April 8th.  The award of contract will take place at the April 12, 2010 council meeting.

Todd Hagen introduced himself to the council and spoke of the projects his company has been working on in the area.  Hagen informed the council of how the financing would take place.

Mueller reported that there is an additional block in NW Jeffers that also has old sewer lines.  Nelson will check on the property owners of that additional block.  An additional hearing will possibly need to be held.  

Lance reported that the Minnesota Department of Health stopped by and took some samples.  They recommend the city get a new permanganate tank.  A new one is approximately $200.  Lance will purchase a new tank.  

Lance attended the conference in St. Cloud and took his Class D water test.  He will find out the results in a couple of weeks.

Lance suggested that the city get a locator.  The cost is around $800.  The council agreed Lance should purchase a locator.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Duroe, unanimous vote to approve the financial report and pay all bills.

Motion Johnson, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn the meeting at 9:22 p.m. having no further business.
