City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on December 10, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. Present: Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Roberta Duroe, Sheila Ryker, Shawna Dorr-Jones, Curt Determan. Sharen Goeman, Clerk, Lance Holmen, Maintenance.
Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Minutes from the November 26, 2012 meeting were approved as read.
Lucy Swenson, First Security Agency presented the renewal for the city that is due February 2, 2013. The council discussed changes.
Motion to follow recommendations of schedule of covered property for pump house, water tower and firehouse Dorr-Jones, second Ryker, unanimous vote.
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Ryker, unanimous vote that the City of Jeffers does not waive the monetary limits on municipal tort liability.
A list of property owners with unpaid charges was presented to the council for approval to be assessed to their property. The total amount of unpaid charges is $2,477.30 will be assessed to the property owners and the lien shall be collected and paid over in the same manner as property taxes with an interest rate of 10%.
Resolution #2012-04 introduced by Duroe, seconded by Determan to assess the above charges to the property owners with interest rate set at 10%. Unanimous vote.
Motion Determan, second Dorr-Jones, unanimous vote to approve the following licenses for Jeffers Liquor:
2 Pool Table Licenses
1 Off-Sale Liquor License
1 On-Sale Liquor License
1 Cigarette Sales License
Motion Determan, second Dorr-Jones, unanimous vote to approve the following license for Ryker’s City Meats:
1 Cigarette Sales License
The mayor read a letter from Alliant Energy stating that as of December 31, 2012, Alliant Energy will no longer maintain the City of Jeffers street lights.
Lance will check with other towns to see what they are doing and report back.
Lance reported 13 comp hours.
Dorr-Jones reported that the Zoning Committee met last week and discussed the possibility a conditional use permit needed for a local business.
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Duroe, unanimous vote to pay all bills through the next meeting on January 14, 2013.
Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn the meeting at 9:05 p.m. having no further business.
