City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on March 22, 2010 at 7:00 PM at City Hall. Present: Mayor Brad Prins; Council members: Curt Johnson, Roberta Duroe, Shawna Dorr-Jones, Curt Determan; Lance Holmen, Maintenance; Sharen Goeman, Clerk.
Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Minutes of the March 8, 2010 meeting were approved as read.
The clerk presented Resolution No. 2010-03 for proposed improvements to take place on Lots 7-12, Block 27, Jeffers 1st addition, in the City of Jeffers, Minnesota.
A public hearing shall be held on such proposed improvements on the 12th day of April 2010 in the council chambers of the city hall at 6:30 p.m. and the clerk shall give mailed and published notice of such hearing and improvement as required by law.
Motion Duroe, second Determan, unanimous vote to adopt Resolution No. 2010-03.
Lance reported damage to the siren. Ron’s electric will come to inspect it.
The clerk will check into insurance coverage on the siren.
Lance purchased a locator for $600.00
Lance will schedule street sweeping with the City of Westbrook sometime in April.
Motion Johnson, second Dorr-Jones, unanimous vote to start monthly water, garbage and sewer billing with the month of July.
The council also noted that with the monthly billing the water and sewer rates will be increasing due to the upcoming improvements.
May 7, 2010 will be the tentative Clean-up day. The clerk will check with Hometown Sanitation to see if this date is open.
Residents will need to sign up and pay a $20 fee at City Hall if they want a pickup scheduled at their residence. Unreasonably large piles will be charged extra fees. Residents will also need to pay fees at City Hall for appliances they wish Eagle appliance to pick up as well. Those fees will be announced in the spring newsletter.
Motion Duroe, second Dorr-Jones, unanimous vote to pay all bills and approve the financial report.
Motion Johnson, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn the meeting at 8:37 p.m. having no further business.
