City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on March 13, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. Present: Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Roberta Duroe, Shawna Dorr-Jones, Sheila Ryker, Curt Determan, Lance Holmen, Maintenance. Absent: Sharen Goeman, Clerk

Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Minutes from the February 25, 2013 meeting were approved as read.

Mayor Prins reported on the issue of the school being billed so much for the fire call. He stated that the Fire Department has not billed them for the previous calls, so payment will remain as is.

Questions were raised for Mychael Swan, Agrinatural Gas. Is the natural gas strictly for people in town or can residents outside the city limits have access to it? Any questions residents have should be written down and addressed for the next meeting with Swan.

Holmen reported some concerns with the water on Duroe Street and by Curt Carter’s. A culvert was discussed. The road near Barker’s and Simonson’s is also a problem. Discussion about curb and gutter or a culvert was held. The culvert by the ball field and the County Road needs to be looked at. Mayor Prins will talk with the County about the issue.

Spring Cleanup is set for May 10, 2013. Prices will be left the same. $20 for a standard pile.

Public Works Superintendent and Clerk/Treasurer will receive a 3% wage increase. Motion Dorr-Jones, second Duroe, unanimous vote.

Ice sitting on the roads was brought up as a concern. The city will look into purchasing a single axle state truck for plowing and salting roads for next winter. Mayor Prins will check into this. This is also the option to buy a plow for the city truck.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Duroe to pay all bills and approve the financial report, unanimous vote.

Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:25 p.m. having no further business.
