City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on December 9, 2013 at 8:00 p.m. at City Hall.  Present:  Mayor Brad Prins; Council members: Roberta Duroe, Sheila Ryker, Shawna Dorr-Jones, Curt Determan.  Sharen Goeman, Clerk.  Lance Holmen, Maintenance.

Mayor Pro Tem Roberta Duroe called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m.  Minutes from the November 25, 2013 meeting were approved as read.

Old Business of the salt spreader was discussed.

Discussion was held on cable television.  The city received notification from NU-Telecom that due to the rising operating costs and decreases in subscriber numbers they will be suspending cable television service to the city of Jeffers by March 1, 2014.  

The clerk will check with surrounding communities on what services they use.

Two new tires were put on the City pickup.

Motion Determan, second Dorr-Jones, unanimous vote to give the same holiday bonus to the city staff as previous years.  $200 to Public Works and $125 to Clerk/Treasurer.

The clerk submitted a proposal from Banyon for a Payroll Program.  The WinPay Payroll Software costs $1,895 with annual support at $795.  One day of training would be $400 for a total of $3,090.  The council will consider the proposal.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Duroe, unanimous vote to approve the financial report and pay the bills until the end of the year.

Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:40 p.m. with no further business.
