City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on April 26, 2010 at 7:00 PM at City Hall. Present: Mayor Brad Prins; Council members: Curt Johnson, Roberta Duroe, Shawna Dorr-Jones, Curt Determan; Lance Holmen, Maintenance; Sharen Goeman, Clerk.
Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Minutes of the April 12, 2010 meeting were approved as read.
A letter from the MPCA was reviewed. Wenck is waiting for Cottonwood County Board approval and approval from the MPCA to proceed with the sewer pond project. The approval should happen this week.
Clerk’s notes were reviewed:
• Board of Appeal & Equalization is May 5, 2010 at 5 p.m.
• A letter was sent to a resident regarding her dog.
• A street repair worker applied for unemployment. The City of Jeffers paid 36.40% of base period wages, therefore the City is responsible for $466.35 of unemployment.
• A resident paid her dangerous dog fee of $105.00 on 4/26/10.
Lance reported the water shutoffs that were done and the collections made for water, garbage and sewer.
Duroe brought up a resident’s concern over creeping Charlie in their neighbor’s lot. It was decided that residents are responsible for their own lawn and creeping Charlie is not a noxious weed.
A Building Permit for South Central Electric to install a business signboard was reviewed.
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Duroe, unanimous vote, to approve the building permit, pending the Zoning Administrator’s approval.
#2010-07, A Resolution Approving Participation in a Countywide Communication Equipment Project and Submission of “Assistance to Firefighters” Grant Application was introduced by Johnson, second Dorr-Jones, unanimous vote.
A property owner who is storing garbage in their garage and shed, was discussed. The Clerk will send a letter to the owner.
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan to pay all bills and approve the financial report.
Motion Johnson, second Determan to adjourn at 8:23 p.m. having no further business.
