City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on April 4, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.  Present:  Mayor Brad Prins,  Council members: Roberta Duroe, Shawna Dorr-Jones, Curt Determan, Sheila Ryker, Lance Holmen, Maintenance,  Sharen Goeman, Clerk

Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Minutes from the March 24, 2014 meeting were approved as read.

Bill Michel requests to have city water installed at his home located on County Road 4.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Ryker, unanimous vote to have Jeffers Dray Line install a one inch line from Nick Willardson’s south driveway on the west side of County Road 4 ditch to Bill Michel’s.  Michel will pay for 100% of the cost.

The County will be crack filling on Whited Street when they get a chance.  County will pay for Whited Street to be swept.

Lance reported The Road Guy will be coming to sweep the streets in the next week.

Mayor Prins will contact SMC and Lance will contact Bargen for prices on street repairs.

Spring Cleanup is set for Friday, May 9th.  If residents wish to be on the list, they must pay a $20 fee by May 8th at 3 p.m.

Agrinatural Gas will be coming in to return yards, alleys and ditches to previous condition once the ground dries.  Lance will be checking with Mychael Swan to see exactly what they will be doing.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to purchase three 6ft benches for placement in front of the Senior Center, Ryker’s and The Slipper for approximately $2,000.

Discussion was held regarding a resident’s garbage in yard causing health concerns.  A certified letter will be sent to request removal or cost of removal will be certified to their taxes.

A resident questioned water flow through their ditch.  It was determined that this is a county issue and they will be instructed to contact the county.

A contract for Ambulance Services from the Westbrook Ambulance was reviewed.  Motion Determan, second Ryker, unanimous vote to approve the contract for 2014 at $7/person at a prorated cost of $2,123.30.
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to pay all the bills and approve the financial report.

Motion Ryker, second Determan to adjourn at 8:45 p.m. having no further business, unanimous vote.
