City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on April 28, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.  Present:  Mayor Brad Prins,  Council members: Roberta Duroe, Curt Determan, Sheila Ryker, Lance Holmen, Maintenance,  Sharen Goeman, Clerk.  Absent:  Shawna Dorr-Jones.

Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Minutes from the April 14, 2014 meeting were approved as read.

Duane Hooge, Bargen, Inc. was present to review a quote for street repairs.  A new product was discussed called Replay.

Brad reported that SMC will stop in later this week to look over the city and Lance will also get some estimates from the City of Westbrook.

Home Occupation Permit from Slim’s Small Engines was reviewed.  Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote approve the permit.

A building permit for Claudette Carter was reviewed.  Motion Duroe, second Ryker, unanimous vote to approve the building permit.

Lance presented a lawn mower quote from Westbrook Ag Power.  He reported that the City’s present mower has 445 hours and is 8 years old.  The price quote was $6,300 with trade for a Simplicity Cobalt Zero Turn ZT-5400.

Motion Ryker, second Duroe, unanimous vote to purchase the above referenced mower.

Ron’s Electric will install a new light at the ponds.

A light in the park is not working and lights at the fire hall need to be checked.

Brick and block work on the restrooms at the ball field needs to be done.

The fire department has purchased a rescue truck for $32,000.  The truck will be delivered in mid-May.  Norm Giesen Trucking will deliver the truck for $1,800.  

Motion Ryker, second Determan to approve the financial report and pay all bills, unanimous vote.

Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:48 p.m. having no further business.
