City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on August 11, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.  Present:  Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Roberta Duroe, Shawna Dorr-Jones, Sheila Ryker, Curt Determan, Lance Holmen, Maintenance.   Absent: Sharen Goeman, Clerk.

Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Minutes from the July 28, 2014 meeting were approved as read.

RESOLUTION #2014-05 CITY RESOLUTON OF SUPPORT

Jim Hailer presented a resolution of city support for approval.

Motion Determan, second Dorr-Jones, unanimous vote.

Sue Goeman and Bonnie Hanish were present to announce that the Jeffers Lions will be celebrating 20 years on September 14, 2014 with an appreciation cookout at the Jeffers Senior Center.  Serving 10:30 – 1:00 p.m.  They requested the use of 3 picnic tables.

The trailer at 220 S. Courthouse was discussed.  A new letter was sent giving the owners a right to request a hearing.  There has been no request for a hearing as of this date.

The house at 308 E. Woodman has been inspected and no asbestos was found.  The wiring has been removed and no mercury is present.  It will cost $1,000 or less to having everything cleaned out of the inside by Donna Stressman.  If the house is burned, it can’t be hauled to the landfill for two months.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Duroe, unanimous vote to have Donna Stressman clean house and garage.  

Lance requested permission to purchase a mower to attach sprayer to and get weeds.  Motion Duroe, second Determan, unanimous vote to purchase used John Deere mower from Robert Barker for spraying purposes.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Duroe to pay all bills and approve the financial report, unanimous vote.

Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:25 p.m. with no further business.
