City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on September 22, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.  Present:  Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Roberta Duroe, Sheila Ryker, Shawna Dorr-Jones, Curt Determan, Lance Holmen, Maintenance.   Sharen Goeman, Clerk.

Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Minutes from the September 8, 2014 meeting were approved as read.

Bruce and Sherry Sevcik were present to inquire about the property on Stevens Avenue.  They would be interested in purchasing it to put it back on the tax roll if the city would forgive the mowing fees.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Ryker, unanimous vote to waive the mowing fees going through 2014. Motion carried.

Motion Ryker, second Duroe, unanimous vote for Lance to purchase a new potassium Permanganate Pump.

Southern Minnesota Construction’s bid for the Water main break – HMA Patching at the school, REA and County Shop was reviewed.  The bid is for $13,468 + a mobilization fee of $1,950.  

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Ryker, unanimous vote.

Ordinance violations were discussed.  Certified letters will be sent to residents for noxious weeds and junk vehicles.

The council and their families are invited to the Senior Citizen’s annual potluck on October 13, 2014 at 6 p.m.

The clerk submitted a quote for a new computer for the fund accounting.  The quote was from ICitizen for $780.17.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Duroe, unanimous vote to purchase the computer.

The council discussed the water bills and delinquent accounts.  Meters will now be read on the 25th of each month and sent out before the first with the balance due by the 15th of each month.  Non-payment will result in services being shut off.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Ryker to pay all bills and approve the financial report.  Unanimous vote.

Motion Ryker, second Determan to adjourn at 8:37 p.m. having no further business.
