City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on January 12, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. Present: Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Roberta Duroe, Shawna Dorr-Jones, Curt Determan, Sharen Goeman, Clerk. Absent: Sheila Ryker, Lance Holmen, Maintenance.
Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Minutes from the December 8, 2014 meeting were approved as read.
Visitors: Gail Bondhus, Cottonwood County Assessor

Rural Service District was discussed. Bondhus was present to report on tax benefits and dollar amounts related to creating a rural service district in the City of Jeffers.
Steps involved would be to publish a notice in the newspaper and hold a public hearing before the rural service district could be created. Minimum acreage size, level of benefit would need to be discussed.
A signed copy of the clerks approved minutes would need to be in the Cottonwood County Auditors office before August 1, 2015 to affect tax year 2016.
The clerk will speak with Kristi at Ron Schramels office for more information and to schedule a date for the hearing.
The City offices were discussed for 2015. Motion Dorr-Jones, second Duroe, unanimous vote to keep all offices the same as 2014.

City fees were discussed. Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to keep city fees the same as 2014.
Motion Determan, second Dorr-Jones, unanimous vote the City of Jeffers does not waive the monetary limits on municipal tort liability.
The clerk will call Mike Burkhardt to find out about the letter from the State Auditors office.
The clerk will compile a list of expenses from the 308 E. Woodman property.
Determan commented that this summer will be a good time to do paving because of the low oil prices.
Mayor Prins reported that Minions will need to be paid for the cement that was hauled out there from 308 E. Woodman.
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to pay all bills and approve the financial report.
Motion Determan, second Duroe, unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:17 p.m. having no further business.
