City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on February 9, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.  Present:  Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Roberta Duroe, Shawna Dorr-Jones, Curt Determan, Sheila Ryker, Sharen Goeman, Clerk, Lance Holmen, Maintenance.

Visitor:  Chad Luck

Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Minutes from the January 26, 2015 meeting were approved as read.

Chad Luck was present to discuss the demolition of his house at 306 E. Woodman.  The mayor instructed Luck to come back to the next meeting on February 23, 2015.  The mayor will contact Jim Kartes to make arrangements for an inspection.

Motion Determan, second Ryker to approve liquor, cigarette and pool table licenses for 2015.  Unanimous vote.

Resolution #2015-01 Establishing Limited Cleanup and property damage protection for sewer back-ups and water main breaks for water and sewer customers was presented.

Introduced by Dorr-Jones, second by Duroe, uananimous vote.

The Rural Service District was discussed.  Motion Dorr-Jones, second Duroe to allow parcels with a minimum of five acres to be part of the rural service district at a rate of 20%.  Unanimous vote.

A pay increase for the City Clerk/Treasurer and Public Works Superintendent was discussed.  Motion Determan, second Dorr-Jones to increase their pay by 1.75% effective March 1, 2015.  Unanimous vote.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to pay all bills and approve the financial report.

Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:29 p.m. having no further business.
