The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on May 11, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. Present: Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Roberta Duroe, Curt Determan, Shawna Dorr-Jones. Absent: Sheila Ryker. Sharen Goeman, Clerk, Lance Holmen, Maintenance.

Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Minutes from the April 27, 2015 meeting were approved as read.

Visitors: Marty Hansen, Marianne Mulvany
Luke Ewald, Des Moines Valley Human Services Rebecca Goyne, Intern

Hansen and Mulvany were present to receive approval on a building permit to build a 6’x10’ deck with railing and steps. Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan to approve the building permit. Unanimous vote.

Mark Jones and Mark Hoffman are interested in purchasing two lots on Whited Street. Jones and Hoffman would like to know if assessments would be forgiven. Mark Jones should get more information from the Cottonwood County Auditor.

Luke Ewald was present to discuss Tobacco Free Communities – working with parks. (Including E-cigarettes, cigars, cigarettes) Free signs and posts would be made available and policy. No ordinance needed.

Motion Determan, second Duroe, unanimous vote to adopt Tobacco Free Community for the City Park. DVHS will provide signs and 3 posts.

The clerk will check on LGA funds. Will call Heather Cochran at the League of MN Cities.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Duroe, unanimous vote to pay all bills and approve the financial report.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote not to have a meeting on May 25, 2015.

Motion Determan, second Duroe, unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:20 p.m. having no further business.
