City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on October 12, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. Present: Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Roberta Duroe, Curt Determan, Shawna Dorr-Jones, Sheila Ryker, Lance Holmen, Maintenance, Sharen Goeman, Clerk.

Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Minutes from the September 28, 2015 meeting were approved as read.

A fence permit for Steve Barker was reviewed. Motion Dorr-Jones, second Duroe, unanimous vote pending Slim’s approval.

Mayor Prins has a list of a few more junk cars letters to send.

Cable tv lines are becoming loose and detached from poles. Lance spoke with the workers form NuTelcom. SC electric is concerned the lines will hit the powerlines.

The Fire Department will plan to research picnic tables next spring. The council requests more detail on the pay detail forms for employees.

Lance will be attending a MN Rural Water Waste water class in Comfrey this week. There was a problem with the well on Sunday. It turned out to be SC Electric’s problem and has been taken care of.

The clerk reported that she spoke with DSI and the grant has not been opened up to the whole town yet. DSI hasn’t heard from the State. They are hoping that it will been soon so they can accept applications over the winter and get the contractors so the work can be completed next summer and fall before the Grant ends at the end of 2016.

Ron’s Electric will be working on a street light.

Lance will check with Brad Flater regarding interior work at City Hall.

The clerk will put the Halloween hours in the newspaper. 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on October 31st. Make sure to put your porch light on if you want to pass out treats.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to pay all bills and approve the financial report.

Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 7:47 p.m.
