City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on March 28, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.

Present: Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Roberta Duroe, Shawna Dorr-Jones, Curt Determan, Sheila Ryker, Sharen Goeman, Clerk, Lance Holmen, Maintenance. Absent: Sharen Goeman, Clerk.

Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Minutes from the March 14, 2016 meeting were approved as read.

A building permit for Doug Perry was reviewed for a fence. Motion Determan, second Dorr- Jones, unanimous vote, pending Slim’s approval.

Home occupation permit for Slim was reviewed. Motion Dorr-Jones, second Duroe, unanimous vote.
Discussion was held on home occupation permits. Motion Determan second Dorr-Jones to keep home occupation ordinance intact and waive the application fee, unanimous vote.

An amendment to 732 Home Occupation ordinance that the city has the right to decide how much the fee will be page 39 of the ordinance book.

Water rates, the clerk will check with other cities on their water rates. The property at 112 W. Whited Street has been clean up.

The clerk will have Sandy Olson speak with Elizabeth Stumpf to see if she is interested in helping with animal control. Sandy will be expected to inform her of all the rules.

Ron’s Recycling will be in town on May 13 or 14th for City-wide cleanup. City Cleanup is set for May 13th with Hometown Sanitation.

Board of Appeal and Equalization is Wednesday, May 4th at 5 p.m.

Lance reported that he would like to do infrared on some spots in town. He will get estimates.

Westbrook will do the crack filling.

Water shutoffs were discussed. The residents in question that do not pay will be shut off.

A tree at Thoebe’s residence needs to be cut down. Bill Michel will be contacted.

The clerk should check on the status of the LGA money for 2014 and make sure that the audit was sent in for 2015.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan to pay all bills and approve the financial report, unanimous vote.

Motion Ryker second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:35 p.m. having no further business.
