City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on April 25, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.

Present: Mayor Pro-tem Roberta Duroe, Council members: Sheila Ryker, Curt Determan. Sharen Goeman, Clerk, Lance Holmen, Maintenance. Absent: Mayor Brad Prins, Shawna Dorr-Jones
Mayor Pro-tem Duroe called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Minutes from the April 11, 2016 meeting were approved as read.

Visitor: Jed Rhubee addressed the council and presented a report on the Cottonwood County shop’s water usage over the last 7 years. The clerk presented a report representing billed usage and actual usage of water by the Cottonwood county shop. In the report there were two rate increases accounted for. Due to the differences in the two reports, Rhubee will take both reports back for review and requested to be on the May 9, 2016 agenda.

Rhubee also addressed the council regarding sewer access on property that the county is checking in to acquiring. The clerk will check on some details with the city attorney and this will be addressed at the next meeting.

A building permit for a resident to construct a deck was reviewed. Since the project was almost complete before the permit was approved, the council approved the permit with a triple fine. Motion Determan, second Ryker, unanimous vote to approve with triple fine.

Lance reported that the county will be able to complete the street work for about half the cost of the other estimates that were received, with the assistance of Drayline.

Ryker reported that the Red Rock Central school board accepted the $7,500 offer to purchase the plastic playground equipment.

Motion Determan, second Ryker, unanimous vote to purchase the plastic playground equipment from Red Rock Central for $7,500.

Lance will get estimates for moving the equipment.

The clerk reported that representatives from Development Services, Inc. will be at City Hall on Tuesday, May 10th from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for residents to come in and apply for the Small Cities Development grant.
Information will be collected to do income verifications and all other paperwork will be provided. Appointments can be made by calling Amanda at 507-626-4297. Checklists will be mailed out to residents along with notification of this meeting.

Motion Ryker, second Determan to pay all bills and approve the financial report, unanimous vote.

Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 7:32 p.m. having no further business.
