The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on September 12, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. Present: Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Roberta Duroe, Sheila Ryker, Curt Determan, Shawna Dorr-Jones. Sharen Goeman Clerk, Lance Holman, Maintenance.
Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Minutes from the August 22, 2016 meeting were approved as read.
The council set the 2017 Levy at $176,550 with no increase from 2016. Motion Determan, second Dorr-Jones. Unanimous vote.
The Cottonwood County Housing Tax Abatement program was reviewed and discussion was tabled.
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Duroe, unanimous vote to burn the Luck house on Woodman if this process is approved.
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Ryker, unanimous vote to tear down the Scheidt and Haken houses. Dangerous dogs were discussed.
Motion Determan, second Ryker, unanimous vote to waive the assessment against the Thobe property pending the well is filled on the property.
Spraying for mosquitos will be done again soon.
Curb and gutter will be installed in front of Dorr-Jones property. City pays for 50% of curb and gutter.
A letter will be sent to a resident regarding a new deck. A letter will be sent to a resident to remove junk cement.
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Ryker to transfer $60,000 from the sewer fund to the general fund to cover street repairs. Unanimous vote.
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to pay all bills and approve the financial report.
Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:45 p.m. having no further business.
