City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on April 10, 2017. Present Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Shawna Dorr-Jones, Curt Determan, Sheila Ryker, Jed Rhubee, Sharen Goeman, Clerk/Treasurer, Lance Holmen, Maintenance

Mayor Prins call the meeting to order at 7 p.m. The minutes from March 27, 2017 were approved as read.

The council clarified that mattresses will be included in the $20 fee paid to have Hometown stop at your residence.

Building permits were reviewed.

Motion Determan, second Rhubee, unanimous vote to approve a permit for a lean-to on the dwelling at 211 W. Clark Street.

Motion Ryker, second Rhubee, unanimous vote pending Slims approval to approve a fence permit at 305 E. Whited Street.

Together with the Jeffers Lions, Lance determined that 12 street signs should be purchase for approximately $400. The Lions Club will pay a portion and the City will pay the remainder.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to purchase the street signs.

Motion Determan, second Ryker, unanimous vote to purchase a double lot for $500 from Sandy Olson.

Board of Review is set for May 3, 2017 at 5 p.m. at Jeffers City Hall.

Rhubee reported the following changes to the Jeffers Fire Department By-laws: The annual meeting shall be held on the third Friday of November, instead of the third Tuesday. If a member violates rules of by-laws, the member may be terminated at any meeting instead of the annual meeting.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to approve the by-law changes.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Ryker, unanimous vote to move $75,000 from the sewer fund to the general fund.

Personnel information was discussed and will be reviewed with the city attorney.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to pay all bills and approve the financial report.

Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:10 p.m. having no further business.
