City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on May 22, 2017. Present Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Shawna Dorr-Jones, Curt Determan, Sheila Ryker, Jed Rhubee, Sharen Goeman, Clerk/Treasurer, Lance Holmen, Maintenance

Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. The minutes from May 8, 2017 were approved as read.

Visitor: Jana Carter

Carter was present to ask permission of the City Council to close 2 city blocks on Whited Street, Sunday July 9th for Outlaw Days Bed Races. The council agreed. Rhubee will check into any permits required.

A building permit for a prebuilt deck to be added to a property was reviewed. Motion Dorr- Jones, second Rhubee, unanimous vote.

The clerk will check with the city attorney regarding removal of junk from property per ordinance 65A.

SMC estimates were reviewed for street improvements.
The clerk will check with the League of Minnesota Cities for requirements of special assessments and street improvements.

Lance will request SMC to attend the next council meeting on June 12th.
Problems with the wet well were discussed and Tonka water maintenance was tabled.

Lance presented an estimate for a new laptop from ICitizen.

Motion Ryker, 2nd Rhubee, unanimous vote to purchase a new laptop from ICitizen for Public Works.
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote for Jeffers Drayline to clean the ditch on Courthouse and make a waterway through Drayline lot to make water run from the intersection of Courthouse and Peavey.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to pay all bills and approve the financial report.

Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous to adjourn at 8:30 p.m. having no further business.
