City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on July 10, 2017. Present Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Shawna Dorr-Jones, Sheila Ryker, Jed Rhubee, Sharen Goeman, Clerk/Treasurer, Lance Holmen, Maintenance; absent: Curt Determan
Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. The minutes from June 26, 2017 were approved as read.
Mayor Prins reported that the dangerous dog owner’s new liability insurance policy won’t take effect until July 14, 2017. The owner will bring all the documents to provide proof of her compliance next week.
The Cottonwood Solid Waste department inspected the house at 220 S. Courthouse and deemed it unsafe to remove the contents. The council agreed to have Jeffers Drayline proceed with the demo, separating the appliances from the building materials.
The council discussed other properties in need of demolition.
Street work was tabled.
Lance reported that the water plant filter is leaking and he will get estimates for repair.
A building permit for a shed was approved pending Slim’s approval. Motion Dorr-Jones, second Ryker, unanimous vote.
The ball field dugouts were discussed and tabled.
An inquiry regarding a vacant lot was discussed. The cost would be $1,000 and the owner would need to take care of an open well then assessments would be waived.
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Ryker, unanimous vote to pay all bills and approve the financial report.
Motion Ryker, second Dorr-Jones, unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:10 p.m. having no further business.
