City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on August 14, 2017. Present Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Shawna Dorr-Jones, Sheila Ryker, Jed Rhubee, Curt Determan, Sharen Goeman, Clerk/Treasurer, Lance Holmen, Maintenance

Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. The minutes from July 24, 2017 were approved as read.

Visitors: Bonnie Lewis, John Garritsen

Lewis and Garritsen were present to request the status of their dog be reduced to potentially dangerous dog from dangerous dog so they would be able to acquire insurance to cover the dog.
The council denied the request but gave Lewis and Garritsen until August 28, 2017 to obtain the proper insurance for a dangerous dog. If they do not have insurance by that date, the dog will be seized.

Motion Ryker, second Rhubee, unanimous vote to hire Patrick Deering, PE from DGR Engineering to write bid specs for the water filter project.

Dominic Jones from Red Rock Rural Water will be present at the August 28, 2017 meeting for a proposal.

Motion Determan, second Dorr-Jones, unanimous vote to approve the building permit for a garage.
Lawn mowing letters will be sent out to residents who need to mow their lawn.

Ryker reported there are trophies in the school from Storden-Jeffers that need to be removed.

Dorr-Jones completed the Local Board of Appeal training.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to pay all bills and approve the financial report.

Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:30 p.m. having no further business.
