City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on August 28, 2017. Present Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Sheila Ryker, Jed Rhubee, Curt Determan, Peggy Hubley, Assistant Clerk/Treasurer, Lance Holmen, Maintenance. Absent: Shawna Dorr-Jones.
Visitors: Bonnie Lewis, John Garritsen, Sue Goeman, Dominic Jones
Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. The minutes from August 14, 2017 were approved as read.
Lewis and Garritsen were present to present papers to show they have insurance to cover the dangerous dog situation. Peggy will check with State Farm to verify that the insurance will indeed cover the dog.
Sue Goeman, representing the Lyon’s Club, presented a proposal to purchase a 30” x 40” swing frame which would hold the graduation pictures from Jeffers High School and Storden-Jeffers Highschool. It would be mounted in Jeffers City Hall. Motion Determan, second Ryker, unanimous vote for the City of Jeffers to purchase the swing frame with the Lyon’s Club inserting the pictures and installing the frame.
Dominic Jones representing Red Rock Rural Water presented a proposal to bring Rural Water into Jeffers. There was much discussion and Dominic will be present at the next Council meeting to present more figures, etc. and answer questions from the Council.
Motion Rhubee, second Determan, unanimous vote to approve the building permit for a fence pending Slim’s approval.
Letters will be sent out to residents who have inoperative, junk or unlicensed vehicles on their property.
Ryker will work with the school to remove the trophies that are on display in the Storden-Jeffers Elementary school. They need to be out by the middle of September.
A letter will be sent out to a resident that needs to mow.
Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to pay all bills and approve the financial report.
