Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Minutes of the June 28, 2010 meeting were approved as read.

The bid opening for the Street and Utility Improvement was postponed by the County until July 21, 2010 to allow contractors more time to submit bids. The Council will be asked to consider the approval at the July 26, 2010 meeting.

Wenck Associates would like to have an appreciation night for Jeffers and surrounding towns at the Jeffers City Park on August 6, 2010. Notice reserving the park for that day will be posted on the Shelter.

The Outlaw Days Committee requested the Council Chambers for meetings the first Monday of each month. Council approved.

Lance reported Svoboda Excavating, Inc. can now start on the pond project. Some dumping outside of the allowed time frame was needed due to the excess rain. The dumping has been done and he has notified Svoboda.

The siren has been fixed and Brad talked to Storden about testing the sirens weekly on Wednesday, 1 p.m. The Sheriff’s office cannot test the sirens separately from Storden. The siren company did not have a way to make the battery backup only. Larry Schwarting, mayor of Storden, said a weekly test was fine with him, but suggested a much shorter test than the one done on the first Wednesday of each month.

Mayor Prins will talk to the Sheriff about testing the siren weekly.

Shawna reported Matt Langland had fixed Mary Ann Meyer’s driveway approach and requested the city pay $100 for materials. Motion Duroe, second Prins, unanimous vote to pay $100 to Matt Langland.

Roberta reported some city residents had asked if something could be done about the water standing on her property. Brad will talk to the County Engineer about the tile in the farmland north of their property.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Duroe, unanimous vote to pay all bills and approve the financial report.

Motion Johnson, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn the meeting having no further business at 8:02 p.m.
