City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in regular session on January 24, 2018 at the Red Rock Rural Water Board Room. Present Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Shawna Dorr-Jones, Curt Determan, Jed Rhubee, Sharen Goeman, Clerk/Treasurer, Lance Holmen, Maintenance. Absent: Council member Sheila Ryker.

Mayor Prins call the meeting to order at 7 p.m. The minutes from January 8, 2017 were approved as read.

Visitors: Ron Schramel, Dominic Jones, Red Rock Rural Staff member

Jones presented the proposed plan for the City of Jeffers. RRRW would assume responsibility of seven connections from the rural line. They would include rural residents Thomas, Whiteford, Rhubee, Carter, Hubley, Westerman and Quade. The City of Jeffers would assume responsibility of six connections from the rural line. They would include rural residents Sale, Piotter, Goeman, Hanish, Barker and Barker.

Jones stated that an engineering recommendation will be needed, Lance will check with Pat Deering.
Attorney Ron Schramel will be preparing a draft of the agreement between the City of Jeffers and Red Rock Rural Water.

Discussion was held regarding the payment to RRRW for the transfer.

ORDINANCE #71 ALLOWING THE CITY OF JEFFERS TO ASSESS FOR ALL UNPAID FEES, COSTS AND EXPENSES THE CITY OF JEFFERS INCURS TO ENFORCE ANY OF ITS ANIMAL-RELATED ORDINANCES was presented.

Unanimous vote: Shawna Dorr-Jones, Curt Determan, Jed Rhubee, Brad Prins

Motion Rhubee, second Determan, unanimous vote to select the regular premium option for Workers Compensation coverage through the League of Minnesota Cities.

Congratulations to Lance for receiving an award for maintaining the ponds at a top notch level.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to pay all bills and approve the financial report.

Motion Rhubee, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 9:25 p.m. with no further business.
