City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in regular session on August 13, 2018 at Jeffers City Hall. Present Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Sheila Ryker, Shawna Dorr-Jones, Curt Determan, Jake Barlow, Sharen Goeman, Clerk, Lance Holmen, Maintenance.

Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. The minutes from July 23, 2018 were approved as read. Visitors: Dominic Jones, RRRW

Dominic Jones, Red Rock Rural Water presented the purchase agreement to the council for connection to the Red Rock Rural Water System and the City of Jeffers Water Users agreement for the rural customers of the city of Jeffers.

Motion Determan, second Dorr-Jones, unanimous vote to approve the Water Purchase Agreement between Red Rock Rural Water System and the City of Jeffers and the Water Users agreement for the rural customers of the City of Jeffers.

The city will pay $123,000 to connect to Red Rocks water distribution system. The agreement shall commence on September 1, 2018 and shall terminate on August 31, 2048.

Lance will deliver the water user agreements to the rural customers.

The clerk presented the proposal from MN Rural Water for the micro-loan of $80,000 for partial payment of the cost to connect to Red Rock Rural Water System. The remainder shall come from the general fund.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Ryker, unanimous vote to proceed with the loan.

Building permits for Cottonwood County to build a recycling shed and Pudenz to replace a deck were reviewed.

Motion Determan, second Barlow, unanimous vote to approve the permits.
Curt Carter recently purchased 407 Best Avenue N. He requests that the city remove the house from the property due to its condition.

Motion Determan, second Dorr-Jones, unanimous vote to tear down the house at 407 Best Avenue N. owned by Curt Carter.

A resident inquired about annexing a piece of property into the city of Jeffers. The clerk will check with the City of Windom as to how much it usually costs and the procedure.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to pay all bills and approve the financial reports. Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:37 p.m. having no further business.
