City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in regular session on August 27, 2018 at Jeffers City Hall. Present Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Sheila Ryker, Shawna Dorr-Jones, Curt Determan, Jake Barlow, Sharen Goeman, Clerk, Lance Holmen, Maintenance.

Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. The minutes from August 13, 2018 were approved as read.

Visitors: Elton & Susan Goeman Julie Cohrs-Barker

Rural residents were present to get clarification on the Water Users agreement with the City of Jeffers. It was explained that all rural users are being charged a $5,000 upgrade charge that relates to the costs of upgrading each members water service, source, connection, meter and infrastructure related to the connection.

The clerk will contact the city attorney as to the specifics of financing the $5,000 charge.

The Carter house located at 407 Best Avenue N. will be cleaned out by Lance in order for it to be ready for demolition.

A resident that participated in the Small Cities Development Grant program has questions regarding selling their home. The clerk will check with DSI regarding the details.

Curb & gutter is being added on Stewart Avenue.

Donation to the City from the Outlaw Days committee of $1,000 was received.

A building permit for a wooden shed to be moved on to property was reviewed. Motion Ryker, second Barlow, pending Slims approval. Unanimous vote, Dorr-Jones, abstained.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to pay all the bills.

Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:50 p.m. having no further business.
