City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in regular session on September 24, 2018 at Jeffers City Hall. Present Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Sheila Ryker, Shawna Dorr-Jones, Curt Determan, Jake Barlow; Maintenance Lance Holman, Assistant City Clerk, Peggy Hubley.
Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. The minutes from September 10, 2018 were approved as read.
Visitor: John Hubley
There was discussion concerning the water rates for both the city and the rural users. A motion was made by Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to set a $25.00 base rate for city users and $2.75/1000 gallons. The base rate will include a line service charge of $10.00 which will be listed separately.
Motion Determan, second Dorr-Jones, unanimous vote to set the water rate for those outside of city limits at Red Rock Rural Water rates. The base rate will include a line service charge of $10.00 which will be listed separately.
RESOLUTION #2018-04 TRANSFERRING OF FUNDS
Adopted Dorr-Jones, seconded Ryker, unanimous vote.
RESOLUTION #2018-05 WATER REVENUE NOTE
Adopted Determan, seconded Barlow, unanimous vote
Motion Determan, second Barlow, unanimous vote to approve South Central Electrics building permit to put up a free standing 180 high steel tower. Slim has approved.
The Carter house located at 407 Best Ave. N has been demolished. Carter will pay to have the cement removed.
There was discussion on the firemen paying to use the picnic tables for their personal use. It was decided that they will pay to use them.
Letters to city residents who are in violation of city code will be sent. Gravel will be put down on Stewart Ave.
John Hubley was at the meeting to inquire about bringing water and sewer to his property on Peavey St. He also inquired about Best Ave being extended to the south on the west side of his property providing all concerned parties were in agreement. The Council gave tentative approval.
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to pay all bills.
Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 10:15 p.m. having no further business.
