City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in regular session on April 8, 2019. Present Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Curt Determan, Sheila Ryker, Sharen Goeman, Clerk; Lance Holmen, Maintenance. Absent: Shawna Dorr-Jones, Jake Barlow.

Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. The minutes from March 25, 2019 meeting were approved as read.

City wide clean-up is set for Friday, May 10th. The City of Jeffers Board of Appeals is set for Wednesday, May 8th at 5 p.m.

Visitors: Sandra Wood, Mark Meier, John Hubley Wood inquired about 220 S. Courthouse.
Fire Chief Meier presented a quote for a four gas detector that the fire department would like to purchase. The cost will be a minimum of $650.

Motion Determan, second Ryker, unanimous vote to pay half of the cost of the gas detector.

The fire department would like to purchase 5 SCBA units for a total cost of $29,800.

Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to make funds available to the fire department to purchase the equipment.

Hubley representing the Amboy Township board discussed the building and street near where it will be constructed.

A building permit for a mini storage building at 109 W. Peavey Street was reviewed.
Motion Determan, second Ryker, unanimous vote.

Complaints have been received regarding the conditions of a few properties in town. The clerk will send letters to these residents.

Motion Determan, second Ryker, unanimous vote to pay all bills.

Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:40 p.m. having no further business.
