City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in regular session on May 13, 2019. Present: Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Shawna Dorr-Jones, Sheila Ryker, Curt Determan, Lance Holmen, Maintenance, Sharen Goeman, Clerk. Absent: Jake Barlow
Visitors: Bryan Petzel, ISG, Sandra Wood, Sandy Olson
Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. The minutes from April 22, 2019 meeting were approved as read.
Bryan Petzel presented a proposal from ISG and KLM to clean and inspect the water tower at a cost of $4,850. No action was taken at this time.
Sandra Wood was present to inform the council that she and Terry Pudenz are interested in obtaining the Hanson property, which is now owned by the State of Minnesota, parcel #21-234-0070 and parcel #21-414-1100.
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Ryker, unanimous vote for the City of Jeffers to forgive the lien against 220 S. Courthouse in exchange for two years of maintenance of the property for Terry Pudenz and Sandra Wood only.
Sandy Olson was present to apply for a private kennel license due to the fact that she has added a third dog to her home. Motion Ryker, second Determan. Voting: 3 yay, 1 nay. The license will be up for review in one year.
Olson was also present to discuss a dangerous dog that has been brought to the city of Jeffers. Olson has inspected the property and reviewed all of the requirements with the owner and they are in compliance.
The council requests the clerk to check on amending the animal ordinance.
The clerk will check on building permits for projects that have been completed.
No meeting on May 27 due to the Memorial Day holiday. Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote.
Letters will be sent to residents who property is in need of cleanup.
Motion Ryker, second Determan to set the Jeffers Fire Relief Association at $625/year of service. Motion carried. Prins abstained.
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to pay all bills.
Motion Ryker, second Barlow, unanimous vote to adjourn at 9 p.m. having no further business.
