City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in regular session on August 26, 2019. Present: Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Shawna Dorr-Jones, Sheila Ryker, Curt Determan, Jake Barlow, Sharen Goeman, Clerk; Lance Holmen, Maintenance
Visitors: Brent & Sonja Piotter, Todd Hagen - Ehlers Marlin Hamilton, John Hubley
Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. The minutes from August 12, 2019 meeting were approved as read.
Piotters were present to ask what the city intends to do with the street at the corner of Stewart and Whited. Excess water that pools in the corner due to a possible design flaw has caused their basement wall to partially cave in.
The city will check into options after reviewing this with the county as Whited Street is a county road.
Hagen was present to present the sale day report for the $772,000 General Obligation Improvement Refunding Bonds, Series 2019A.
The low bidder for the sale was Bremer Bank, N.A., St. Louis Park, Minnesota with a bid of 2.5799%. The closing date for the sale is September 17, 2019.
The refunding lead to a savings for the city of $45,347.63.
Resolution #2019-09 Resolution providing for the issuance, sale and delivery of $772,000 General Obligation Improvement Refunding Bonds, Series 2019A
Motion Determan, second Barlow, unanimous vote to approve the resolution.
Hamilton was present to inquire about the property at 204 Moffett Avenue N. that will be on the county auction on September 11, 2019. The council agreed to waive the assessments on the property for Hamilton only, if he purchases the property at the auction.
Hubley was present to discuss the new Amboy Township building. The building will be delivered around September 18, 2019. Discussion was held regarding the water line and it was decided to go with a two inch water line.
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to pay all bills.
Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:38 p.m. having no further business.
