City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in regular session on September 23, 2019. Present: Mayor Brad Prins; Council members: Shawna Dorr-Jones, Sheila Ryker; Assistant Clerk Peggy Hubley. Absent: Council members Jake Barlow, Curt Determan, Lance Holman, Maintenance
Visitors: Rod Rindfleisch, Sonja and Brent Piotter
Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. The minutes from September 9, 2019 were approved as read.
Rod Rindfleisch was present to discuss the back assessments on property he recently purchased at 204 N Moffett. Motion Dorr-Jones, second Ryker, unanimous vote to forgive assessments on the lot if the lot is cleaned up.
Piotters were present to follow up on the water problem at the corner of Whited and Stewert. There was discussion about the work that has been done along Stewert Ave and the City will seed the ditch that was put in. Holmen will check the water line in Piotters basement.
There was discussion about the Sunday liquor license. The plan is to put it as a ballot question on the ballot in August.
The City requested that the position for the Planning/Zoning Commissioner be advertised due to the recent death of the present Commissioner.
A building permit from Carol Eastwood was reviewed to build a 20 x 30 wood frame garage addition attached to the back of the present garage at 407 Scott Street. Motion Ryker, second Dorr-Jones to approve the permit pending inspection by the building inspectior. Unanimous vote.
Motion Ryker, second Dorr-Jones, unanimous vote to pay all bills.
Motion Ryker, second Dorr-Jones, unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:45 p.m. having no further business.
