City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on April 12, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. Present: Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Sheila Ryker, Jacob Barlow, Curt Determan and Shawna Dorr-Jones Sharen Goeman, clerk. Lance Holmen, Maintenance.

Visitors: Paul Burkhardt, John Hubley, Peggy Hubley

Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Minutes from the March 22, 2021 meeting were approved as read.

Burkhardt presented the 2020 Financial Statement for the City of Jeffers.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to approve the 2020 Financial Statement.

Due to the fact the water fund is operating at a deficit the decision was made to increase the base rate and the charge per thousand gallons.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Barlow to increase the base rate from $15/ month to $20/month and increase the amount per thousand gallons to $3.50. Unanimous vote.

Resolution #2021-06 Transferring of funds

The city of Jeffers authorized a transfer from the General Fund to the Water fund to synchronize accounting and budgeting procedures of $40,000.

Motion Determan, second Dorr-Jones, unanimous vote to purchase a new canon copier for $3,600.
 
John and Peggy Hubley were present to request a pickle ball court be added to the tennis court.
Lance will check into resurfacing the tennis and basketball courts.
A building permit for Jeffers Mainstreet Liquor was presented. Motion Determan, second Barlow,

unanimous vote

Lance presented a request to purchase a Simplicity Cobalt Mower from Westbrook Ag Power for $9649.00 minus trade-in of $6,450 with a purchase price of $3,199.

Motion Barlow, second Determan, unanimous vote.

Lance met with MN Pollution Control regarding the over inflow in the ponds. Discussion was tabled until next meeting.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan to pay all bills and approve the financial reports, unanimous vote.

Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 9:20 p.m. having no further business.
