City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on April 26, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.

Present: Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Sheila Ryker, Curt Determan and Shawna Dorr-Jones Sharen Goeman, clerk. Lance Holmen, Maintenance. Absent: Jacob Barlow

Visitors: Lee Martin, Metering and Technology Solutions
Jed Rhubee, Jeffers Fire Relief Association/Cottonwood County

Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Minutes from the April 12, 2021 meeting were approved as read.

Martin presented the Beacon software that supports the Badger water meters the city currently has. The cost is $6,500 which includes the engagement fee, start-up, and activation along with onsite Beacon Training by MTS staff.

Motion Determan, second Dorr-Jones, unanimous vote to purchase the software for $6,500.
Rhubee was present on behalf of the Jeffers Fire Relief Association. Rhubee requested an increase per service year for the fire department.

Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to increase the amount per service year from $625/year to $825/year.

On behalf of Cottonwood County, Rhubee presented rough estimates for seal coating the city streets. This will happen around mid-July.

A building permit was reviewed for a resident to add a ramp to their home. Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote pending approval from Lance.

Scott Hill has been hired by the city to trap nuisance animals at the ponds. The nuisance animals have been causing a lot of destruction. Hill is permitted by the DNR.
 
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan to pay all bills and approve the financial reports, unanimous vote.

Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:45 p.m. having no further business.
