City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on December 13, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.  Present:  Mayor Brad Prins; Council members:  Curt Johnson, Roberta Duroe, Shawna Dorr-Jones, Curt Determan; Lance Holmen, Maintenance; Sharen Goeman, Clerk.

Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Minutes of the November 22, 2010 meeting were approved as read.

The final pay request was discussed for Svoboda and the 2010 Lagoon Improvements.  Motion Determan, second Duroe, unanimous vote to pay Svoboda the final amount of $52,689.50.

Lance discussed some issues at the ponds.  Lance got an estimate for a box liner on the city pickup. 

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to have DeVries Auto add the box liner to the pickup.

The clerk requested permission to close the city office on December 30, 2010 and be open on December 29, 2010 instead.  The council agreed and a sign will be posted to inform residents.

Mayor Prins discussed with a resident regarding his water, sewer, garbage deposit.  The council agreed that the resident should pay the deposit, even though his house is in his mother’s name.  He may have up to three months to pay the deposit of $150.00.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Duroe to cancel the December 27, 2010 meeting and authorize the Clerk to pay all 2010 bills, unanimous vote.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to pay all bills and approve the financial report.

The mayor recognized Councilman Curt Johnson for his years of service to the City of Jeffers and thanked him as this is Curt’s last meeting.

Motion Johnson, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 7:55 p.m.
