City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on March 28, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.
Present: Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Sheila Ryker, Shawna Dorr-Jones, Curt Determan, Jacob Barlow. Sharen Goeman, Clerk, Lance Holmen, Maintenance.
Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Minutes from the March 14, 2022, meeting was approved as read.
Visitors: Tyson Anderson, Nate Strom
Visitors Anderson and Strom were present to speak about where they should build a new butcher shop/grocery store/slaughterhouse. They have a couple of ideas but lean toward the west end of Whited Street. This property would need to be annexed into the city of Jeffers. A petition must be signed by property owners which abut the property to be annexed and presented to the City Council for approval.
A building permit was reviewed for a new shed. Motion Determan, second Barlow, unanimous vote. The overhead doors for the fire hall have arrived and will be installed.
Motion Ryker, second Barlow to purchase the property to be used for the city sign from Ruth Ann Determan for $1,000. Unanimous vote. Abstain: Determan
The clerk will send a letter to Myron Cermak regarding his property on Whited Street.
Discussion was held regarding changing council meetings to once per month. The discussion was tabled until next month.
Motion Determan, second Ryker to pay all bills, unanimous vote.
Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 9:07 p.m. with no further business.
Motion Ryker, second Dorr-Jones unanimous vote to adjourn at 7:56 p.m. with no further business.
