City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on March 13, 2023, at 7 p.m. at City Hall.

Present: Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Curt Determan, Sheila Ryker, Shawna Dorr- Jones. Sharen Goeman, Clerk; Lance Holmen, Maintenance. Absent: Council member: Jacob Barlow,
Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Minutes from the February 27, 2023 meeting was approved as read.

Discussion was held regarding the Burkhardt and Burkhardt Contract letter. Discussion was tabled for more information. The clerk will contact other area cities and inquire about audit firms and accounting systems.

Lance noted that the parking on the streets after snowstorms is getting out of hand. The council agreed an ordinance should be in place. The clerk will contact the city attorney.

Lance proposed purchasing a sewer pipe inspection camera for approximately $800. Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote.

Lance proposed purchasing a submersible pump for approximately $1249.

Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote.

Mayor Prins spoke with a grant writer to get some estimates for a new firehall. Prins presented a rough sketch of a potential firehall to the council.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan to pay all bills. Unanimous vote.

Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:29 p.m. with no further business.
