City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on March 13, 2023, at 7 p.m. at City Hall. Present: Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Curt Determan, Sheila Ryker, Shawna Dorr- Jones, Jacob Barlow. Sharen Goeman, Clerk; Lance Holmen, Maintenance.

Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Minutes from the March 13, 2023, meeting was approved as read.

Discussion was held regarding the Burkhardt and Burkhardt Contract letter.

Motion Ryker, second Barlow, to approve the 3-year contract. Motion passed: 4 -aye and one nay.
The pickleball court was discussed. Lance is checking on options.

The clerk noted that after properties default on the property tax, the property tax is then deleted and the only amount left is special assessments, which the city council can waive if they choose.

The clerk reported that Assistant Clerk Peggy Hubley is retiring from the city. She will work this week and then on an as needed basis.

Discussion was held on the fire department turnout gear.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan to pay all bills. Unanimous vote.

Motion Ryker, second Barlow, unanimous vote to adjourn at 7:56 p.m. with no further business.
