City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on January 24, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.  Present:  Council members:  Roberta Duroe, Shawna Dorr-Jones, Curt Determan, Sheila Ryker; Lance Holmen, Maintenance; Sharen Goeman, Clerk.  Absent:  Mayor Brad Prins

Mayor Pro-Tem Roberta Duroe called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Minutes of the January 10, 2011 meeting were approved as read.

Lucy Swenson, First Security Insurance was present to review the city’s policy with the council.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote:

The City does not waive the monetary limits on municipal tort liability established by Minnesota Statues 466.04.

The 2011 Budget was reviewed by the council.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Ryker, unanimous vote to approve the 2011 Budget with the discussed changes.

Re-elected Council Member Shawna Dorr-Jones was sworn in and signed the oath of office.

Shawna discussed the possibility of having a food shelf in Jeffers.  The topic was tabled.

The clerk will send a letter to a resident regarding the snowmobile parked on the street in front of her residence.

Motion Determan, second Ryker, unanimous vote to purchase the back-up pump for the ponds from DPC for $10,473.75.

Personnel issues were discussed.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Duroe, unanimous vote to pay all bills and approve the financial report.

Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:30 p.m. having no further business.
