City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

Jeffers City Council met in the REGULAR session on April 14, 2025, at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
Present: Mayor Brad Prins; Council members: Sheila Ryker, Shawna Dorr-Jones,
Michael Schoper. Lance Holmen, Maintenance; Sharen Goeman, Clerk . Absent: Council:
Curt Determan.
Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Minutes from March 24, 2025, meeting
was approved as read.
Visitors: Luke Richard – Burkhardt & Burkhardt
Luke Richard presented the Audit for 2024. Motion Dorr-Jones, second Ryker, unanimous
vote to approve the audit report for 2024.
The clerk presented a letter in support of the Federated Rural Electric Association in its
efforts to expand high-speed fiber to the premise broadband service to unserved and
underserved areas in Cottonwood County through the Minnesota BEAD program.
Motion Schoper, second Ryker, unanimous vote to approve the letter.
The Jeffers Fire Department recently approved an increase of the yearly retirement rate from
$825 to $1,000 per year, recommending that the Jeffers City Council approve this increase.
The decision was tabled for more information.
A building permit for a cement patio was reviewed. Motion Dorr-Jones, second Schoper,
unanimously vote to approve the permit.
The council reviewed a fence permit, motion Ryker, second Schoper, unanimous vote to
approve the fence permit.
Lance reported the street sweeper will be in town any day. Keck Tree Service will be in town
to remove ash trees on city property for approximately two ½ days in the coming week.
A letter with fine will be sent to a resident regarding dogs at large.
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Ryker, unanimously vote to pay all bills and approve the financial
report.
Motion Ryker, second Schoper, unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:24 p.m.
