City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

Jeffers City Council met in the REGULAR session on May 21, 2025, at 7 p.m. at
City Hall. Present: Mayor Brad Prins; Council members: Sheila Ryker, Shawna
Dorr-Jones, Curt Determan, Michael Schoper ; Sharen Goeman, Clerk . Lance
Holmen, Maintenance.

Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Minutes from April 28,
2025, meeting was approved as read.

Property sales from 2024 received from the County Assessor were reviewed by
the council.

The council reviewed a fence permit application. Motion Dorr-Jones, second
Ryker, unanimous vote to approve the fence permit.

Discussion on the Jeffers Fire Department retirement rate was opened. Motion
Schoper, second Ryker, unanimous vote to approve an increase to $1,000/year
of service.

Letters will be sent to all city residents regarding trimming trees and bushes in
alleys. Alleys need to be kept clear for emergency services and utility services.
Letters will also be sent to rooster owners due to it being a violation of city
ordinance to possess farm animals within city limits. Legal action may be taken
if this continues.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to pay all bills and
approve the financial report.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Schoper to cancel the council meeting on May 26,
2025, due to the Memorial Day holiday.

Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 7:32 p.m.
