City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

Jeffers City Council met in the REGULAR session on July 14, 2025, at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
Present: Mayor Brad Prins; Council members: Sheila Ryker, Shawna Dorr-Jones, Michael
Schoper ; Lance Holmen, Maintenance. Absent: Curt Determan, Council Member and
Sharen Goeman, Clerk.
Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Minutes from June 28, 2025, meeting was
approved as read.
First Responder Training:
The Lamberton Ambulance Service will be organizing First Responder classes this fall.
Waste Tire Ordinance:
A letter was sent to a business to inform them of the Waste Tire Ordinance in Cottonwood
County.
Building Permit Approved:
The council reviewed a building permit application to cement a patio and driveway.
Motion: Dorr-Jones, second: Schoper Unanimous vote to approve the permit.
Alleyway Maintenance:
Lance will speak with residents who need to trim vegetation in the alleyways on their
property.
Park Vandalism:
Holmen reported that a slide and climbing apparatus in the city park have been vandalized.
Witnesses were present during the incident.The city will contact the Cottonwood County
Sheriffs Department to report the vandalism.A letter will be sent to residents
regarding the seriousness of vandalizing public property. The city will also look into
installing surveillance cameras at the park.
Old Fire Truck:
An expression of interest was made regarding the purchase of an old fire truck. The city
will investigate the proper procedures for posting the item for sale.
Financial Report and Bills:
Motion: Dorr-Jones, second: Determan Unanimous vote to pay all bills and approve the
financial report.
