City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on April 27, 2026, at 7 p.m. at City Hall. Present:
Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Shawna Dorr-Jones, Sheila Ryker, Michael Schoper, Curt
Determan. Sharen Goeman, Clerk. Lance Holmen, Maintenance .
Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m. Minutes from April 13, 2026, meeting were
approved as read.
Visitor: Luke Ewald DVHHS
Ewald was present to discuss his role with cities in Cottonwood County.
There are many programs that he can develop for the City of Jeffers and help get funding through
the state for programs. These include active living plans that help keep citizens active in the
community, community gardens, food shelves, play equipment for the park, grant writing and
many more.
The clerk gave an update on the water tower grant application from Bolton & Menk. The results
should be back the first part of September.
Lance reported that the street sweeper should be here this week.
Lance presented a quote for a new lawn mower as the last time it was traded was 2021. The quote
from Westbrook Ag Power is $5,950 with trade.
Motion Schoper, second Ryker, unanimous vote to proceed with the trade of the lawn mower.
The mayor reported there is some patch work needed on South Courthouse. Side streets in the city
were discussed.
The clerk will be in contact with the city attorney regarding clean up on several properties and
possible updating the nuisance ordinances.
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to pay the bills and approve the financial
report.
Motion Ryker, second Schoper, unanimous vote to adjourn having no further business.
