City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on June 10, 2026, at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
Present:
Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Shawna Dorr-Jones, Michael Schoper, Sheila Ryker, Lance
Holmen, Maintenance . Sharen Goeman, Clerk. Absent: Council: Curt Determan.
Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m. Minutes from May 11, 2026, meeting were approved as read.
Bruce and Sherry Sevick were present to review their plans for a street dance anniversary party on August 15, 2026. They received approval from Cottonwood County to barricade County Highway 32, Whited Street between Courthouse Avenue and Deaver Avenue in Jeffers
Fire Chief Schroeder was present to explain the bills to be paid for the fire department.
A complaint from a resident regarding a dog on their property was reviewed. It was determined that the dog causing the problem has not properly been identified.
Letters will be sent to residents about lawn mowing and animal control issues.
Lance will spray for mosquitos before Outlaw Days and later in the summer. More picnic tables will be ordered to replace damaged ones.
The clerk reported on a payment system that will allow residents to pay their water/sewer bills with debit or credit cards. The council agreed to pursue this.
Motion Ryker second Schoper, unanimous vote to name the Jeffers Senior Center as a backup
location for elections.
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Schoper, unanimous vote to pay the bills and approve the financial report.
Motion Schoper, second Ryker to adjourn at 8:30 p.m. having no further business.
