City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on March 28, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.  Present:  Mayor Brad Prins, Council members:  Shawna Dorr-Jones , Roberta Duroe, Curt Determan, Sheila Ryker; Lance Holmen, Maintenance; Sharen Goeman, Clerk.  

Visitor:  Dennis Johnson, Wenck

Mayor Brad Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Minutes of the March 28, 2011 meeting were approved as read.

The council discussed delinquent water bills.  The clerk was instructed to send notices to residents with overdue balances.  The past due balance must be paid by April 25, 2011 or the water service will be shut off.  If the service is disconnected, a $40 charge will be due along with a zero balance to restore the service.

Dennis Johnson was present to go over figures for the Woodman water main project along with paving projects.

After discussion regarding the figures, motion Determan, second Duroe, unanimous vote to install the water main on Woodman and not pave it and then patch the other areas in town.

Resolution #2011-01

Consider improvement on Woodman Street from Deaver Avenue to Stuart Avenue in accordance with the report and assessment of abutting property pursuant to MN Statutes Chapter 429 at an estimated cost of $58,272.  A public hearing will be held on April 25, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.  

Motion Duroe, second Ryker, unanimous vote.

Board of Review is set for May 4, 2011 at 5 p.m.

Lance discussed that wiring needs to be fixed at the well site for an estimated cost of $2,000.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous for Servocal to do the repair.  

Lance reported the reconditioned pump was installed at the ponds.  Councilperson Determan reported that Woodman Street needs some attention.

The clerk reported on the status of the meter system.  Dakota Supply Group was here to do some training, but the collector wouldnt connect to the computer because we need a static IP address.  We are now waiting for Centurytel to get that to us.

The clerk reported on the PFA Monitoring Visit.  Everything looked okay.  Stephen LaFontaine will send a memo with points that need to be addressed.

Mayor Prins reported that at the next meeting we should discussed the building permit fees.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Duroe, to pay all bills and approve the financial report.

Motion Ryker, second Determan to adjourn at 9:15 p.m. having no further business.
