City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on April 25, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.  Present:  Mayor Brad Prins, Council members:  Shawna Dorr-Jones , Roberta Duroe, Curt Determan, Sheila Ryker; Lance Holmen, Maintenance; Sharen Goeman, Clerk. 

Mayor Brad Prins called the meeting to order at 7:32 p.m.  Minutes of the April 11, 2011 meeting were approved as read.

A resident submitted a building permit application for a storage shed on her property.  After reviewing the application, the council approved the application with the stipulation that it must be approved by the zoning commissioner.  Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote.

Delinquent water bills were discussed.

Motion Duroe, second Ryker, unanimous vote to shut off five delinquent accounts.

Their water will not be turned back on until they have a zero balance.

Lance reported that DSG will be at the office on Thursday, April 28th to get the computer setup for the water meters.

Quam will be coming back to town to complete the projects.

Street Sweeper will be in town the first week in May.  SW Dust Control will be treating Peavey Street in June.

Building Permit Fees were discussed.  The clerk reported that other area towns have a $25 flat fee.  The council decided to double the current fees for the following schedule:

 $1.00 - $1,000  $10.00
 $1,001 - $5,000  $20.00
 $5,001 - $25,000  $30.00
 $25,001 +   $50.00

Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Ryker to pay all bills and approve the financial report.

Motion Ryker, second Duroe to adjourn at 8:45 p.m. having no further business.
