The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on May 9, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. Present: Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Shawna Dorr-Jones , Roberta Duroe, Curt Determan, Sheila Ryker; Lance Holmen, Maintenance; Sharen Goeman, Clerk.
Mayor Brad Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Minutes of the April 25, 2011 meeting were approved as read.
The City Maintenance Bid was opened by Mayor Prins from Jeffers Dray Line. Mayor Prins read the bid.
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, and unanimous vote to approve the bid from Jeffers Dray Line.
Dan Benz was present to speak on behalf of the Fire Department. The department would like to apply for a Tanker Grant of $188,000. The city would need to match 5%.
Sheila Ryker expressed concern over the speed of traffic on Whited Street. Lance will get some 20 mph speed limit signs.
Lance reported that Alliant doesn’t offer LED lights for our light poles. The light poles are too high and the LED lights wouldn’t provide enough light for adequate security.
Minnesota Pollution Control will make their annual inspection on May 10.
Quam will begin in Jeffers by focusing on Woodman Street.
Curt Determan reported that Hometown forgot Courthouse Avenue again last Friday. The clerk will call Mike from Hometown to speak with him about this.
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Duroe, unanimous vote to pay all bills and approve the financial report.
Motion Ryker, second Determan, and unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:10 p.m. having no further business.
