City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on July 11, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. Present: Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Shawna Dorr-Jones, Roberta Duroe, Curt Determan, Sheila Ryker; Lance Holmen, Maintenance; Sharen Goeman, Clerk.

Mayor Brad Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Minutes of the July 11, 2011 meeting were approved as read.

Water and Sewer rates were discussed. Motion Dorr-Jones, second Ryker, unanimous vote to approve the water/sewer rates effective October 1, 2011 of:

Water Base Rate = $15.00 (includes 2000 gallons)
Sewer Base Rate = $34.00

Visitor: Norman Johnson

Norm Johnson was present to inform the council that the legislature has taken money away from school districts for the Summer Recreation programs. The school district may be asking for contributions in the future.

Kennel license rates were discussed. Motion Dorr-Jones, second Duroe, unanimous vote to set the kennel license rates as:

Private Kennel - $50
Commercial Kennel - $200

Building permits for John Morgan and Jose Lopez were reviewed. Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to approve the permits pending the Zoning Administrator’s approval.

Lance reported the paving of Whited Street should take place this week. An estimate was obtained for a section of road from the corner of Deaver and Whited through the alleyway 7 ft. x 140 ft. x 5 in of $4,500. Motion Determan, second Dorr- Jones, unanimous vote to approve this section.

Grader repair discussion was tabled.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Ryker, unanimous vote to pay all bills and approve the financial report.

Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn the meeting having no further business at 8:44 p.m.
