The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on August 8 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. Present: Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Shawna Dorr-Jones, Roberta Duroe, Curt Determan, Sheila Ryker; Lance Holmen, Maintenance; Sharen Goeman, Clerk.
Mayor Brad Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Minutes of the July 25, 2011 meeting were approved as read.
Nick Yokiel of Jeffers Implement Service, LLC was present to request the City of Jeffers install a culvert south of his current building on Peavey Street. The culvert will be a 12” double walled roughly 150 feet in length, running parallel to the street. The culvert runs $6.75 per foot with installation costs of $125.00 to $250.00 by Jeffers Dray Line.
This culvert will help control the water from all over the city.
Motion Determan, second Ryker, unanimous vote to proceed with this project at an approximately cost of $1,500.
Animal Control Officer Sandy Olson was present to request a new cage for holding dogs and cats.
Olson also briefed the council on a recent incident involving the dangerous dog owned by Bonnie Lewis.
Motion Duroe, second Dorr-Jones, to impose a fine of $50 on Bonnie Lewis for Breezy being off leash by admission of owner to animal control officer and forward information to the Cottonwood County Attorney.
The council also discussed the cat & dog licenses. Cat and dogs need to have licenses if they are six months or older. Proof of vaccinations is also required.
License fees are $10.00 per year per animal. If you are in violation of this, a $50 fine will be imposed.
Dennis Johnson, Wenck presented the pay request for the City of Jeffers to pay Quam the city’s portion of the partial payment request of $47,720.04.
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to pay the request.
The Mayor reported to Johnson that the sidewalk in front of Amboy Township hall has not been repaired.
Johnson will get the contract completion form to the clerk for her records.
Grader repair discussion was tabled.
Four wheeler traffic was discussed.
Mayor Prins asked for volunteers to be on the Planning Commission. Shawna Dorr-Jones volunteered.
Trailers on streets was discussed.
Motion Dorr-Jones, second Ryker, unanimous vote to pay all bills and approve the financial report.
Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:45 p.m. having no further business.
