City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on November 23, 2009 at 7:00 PM at City Hall.

Present:Mayor Brad Prins; Council members:Roberta Duroe, Shawna Dorr-Jones, Curt Determan; Lance Holmen, Maintenance; Sharen Goeman, Clerk.

Absent:Curt Johnson

Visitors:Dennis Nelson and Craig Mueller – Wenck Associates Inc.Rory Lindvall –

Cottonwood County Craig Mueller of Wenck Associates Inc. presented a preliminary report for the proposed repairs to the stabilization pond and sewer, water and street upgrading for the city of Jeffers.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to adopt resolution 2009-02 to consider improvement of street and utilities in accordance with the report and assessment of abutting property for all or a portion of the cost of the improvement pursuant to Minnesota Statues, Chapter 429 at an estimated total cost of the improvement of $2,400,000.A public hearing shall be held on such proposed improvement on the 14th day of December, 2009 in the council chambers of the city hall at 6 p.m.

Motion Duroe, second Determan, unanimous vote to authorize Wenck Associates Inc. to seek out plans/specs for the water tower repairs and stabilization ponds upgrade.

Lance presented the water tower controls estimates he received.Motion Duroe, second Determan, unanimous vote to purchase the controls from Servocal Instruments for $2,500 plus a simple auto dialer for $150.00.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to approve liquor, cigarette and pool table license for Jeffers Liquor and a cigarette license for Ryker’s City Meats.

Motion Duroe, second Determan, unanimous vote to approve a building permit for a portable storage shed on Rod Rindflesh’s property pending the Zoning Commission’s approval.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Determan, unanimous vote to pay all bills and approve the financial report.

Motion Determan, second Dorr-Jones, unanimous vote to adjourn at 9:22 p.m. having no further business.
