City of Jeffers - City Council Meeting

The Jeffers City Council met in REGULAR session on March 12, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. Present: Mayor Brad Prins, Council members: Roberta Duroe, Shawna Dorr-Jones, Sheila Ryker, Curt Determan, Lance Holmen, Maintenance. Sharen Goeman, Clerk.

Mayor Prins called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Minutes from the February 27, 2012 meeting were approved as read.

The city received a letter of resignation from City Attorney Dan McDonald. McDonald noted that his partner Ronald Schramel would be willing to continue to represent the city in the same capacity.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Duroe, unanimous vote to appoint Ronald Schramel as City Attorney for the remainder of 2012, effective March 17, 2012.

Mayor Prins reported that the Fire Department recommends the fire protection rate for the townships be increased to $150/section.

Motion Determan, second Dorr-Jones, unanimous vote to raise the fire protection for townships to $150/section.

Lance will setup an account for the Jeffers Fire Department at Runnings. Mark Meier, Mark Jones, Jed Rhubee, Dan Benz and Mike Hansen will be named on the account.

Bonnie Hanish, Jeffers Lions informed the mayor that a representative from Cottonwood County Soil and Water would like to come to the next council meeting on March 26, 2012.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Duroe, to transfer $10,000 from the Water fund to the General Fund, unanimous vote.

Motion Dorr-Jones, second Ryker, unanimous vote to pay all bills and approve the financial report.

Motion Ryker, second Determan, unanimous vote to adjourn at 8:06 p.m. having no further business.
